Another thing FB isn't thinking about or has ignored is copyright infringement. Just because I say I like something such as a company, doesn't mean that FB can make a page out of it. I bet there are a lot of "like" pages out there baring the names of Registered Brand Names of companies that haven't been noticed yet.

I have been asked to look into this very issue for a company, because there is a "like" page out there with their name on it and they don't want that page there.

Re: Social Bookmarking and Blog Comments — The Right Thing to Do

Hi Cindy
This post is Realy Good but who is the best for website ranking: blog commenting or social bookmarking if the tow (blog & social bookmarking site) have the same PR, the same age and they are dofollow?

Re: Social Bookmarking and Blog Comments — The Right Thing to Do

I also use those SB sites you mentioned. The topic is highly relevant and increasingly discussed: why are we "communicating" more and more, but seemingly collaborating (and sometimes achieving) less? Certainly a topic at my company!

By the way, senior marketing execs are welcome as guests to hear Francine's words personally. She's scheduled to appear on 3/16 at the Sports Club LA (in Irvine), just off of MacArthur @ 7:00 pm. Feel free to contact me (wolf_heim@earthlink.net) to RSVP! No charge.

I'm sure we'll hear insightful thoughts and enjoy a good discussion!
Wolf Heim
SoCal MENG Chapter Chair

Re: Is Collaboration the New Business and Workplace Model?

You have raised a powerful and important question with all the optimism that business needs to succeed during these challenging times. For decades, businesses have trained employees to work as a team, have built team-centered cultures, and have even delegated some decision making to teams. But you raise the real point: It's not about teams--groups of people appointed to work together sometimes in spite of themselves and the leadership. It's about collaboration--groups being invested as a group in arriving at a decision or outcome that meets the needs of the business. Collaboration is about the community of collaborators, about being selfless in decision making, about engaging the input of others authentically. Amazing isn't it, how much that sounds like the model behind the effective use of social media. It all makes me optimistic about our direction and the future leaders that will guide us through the challengers ahead. Thanks for this great post, Francine, and at examiner.com.

Re: Social Bookmarking and Blog Comments — The Right Thing to Do

Those social bookmarking sites that you listed are also the ones that i've been using for years now. Using Twitter to listen and to answer to your customer's needs and concerns is a great opportunity to show the world that you care about your customers and their happiness. Zappos is a perfect example of such actions, where they were extremely successful in creating a great brand statement by using Twitter to cater to their customer's needs.

Re: Top 10 Ways to Use Twitter Effectively For Business

Great list Karmen. Twitter can be used for so many marketing applications. I'll add to your list: Customer Service - Use Twitter to reach out to customers in need of service and let them know you care. This is an opportunity to show the world that your business is passionate about Customer Care. Understanding Customer Mindset and Brand Sentiment, especially useful for well-known brands. Use Twitter and other social media to gauge sentiment around a particular brand name or product.

Re: Outsource Social Media Conversations?
